Seit seinem Drehbuch-Studium an der ifs internationale filmschule köln arbeitet Dominik Hochwald als Autor und Dramaturg für Film, Serie, Games und Kinderbücher.
Er ist Autor der ZDF-Serie Wake Up, die im Oktober 2026 veröffentlicht wurde und des Film-Game-Hybrids Human Within, das 2025 auf der Meta Quest erschien. Zudem schrieb er das Drehbuch für die im Dezember 2026 erscheinende Weihnachts-Folge Mörderische Bescherung der ZDF-Reihe Friesland.
Er entwickelte die Story des kommenden Animationsfilms Dreamers – The Hunt for Shadowclaw, der auf dem Internationalen Trickfilm-Festival Stuttgart (ITFS) 2026 mit dem Drehbuchpreis ausgezeichnet wurde.
Die Bücher seiner Bilderbuchreihe Dinosaurier in Omas Garten verkauften sich bis 2026 über 300.000 Mal. Der erste Band ist mit über 100.000 verkauften Exemplaren ein Bestseller. Dinosaurier feiern Weihnachten stieg im November 2025 auf Platz 9 der deutschen Bilderbuchbestsellerliste ein. Seit Januar 2026 wird mit Dino Mates die Serienadaption der Reihe auf KiKA ausgestrahlt. Regelmäßig veranstaltet er interaktive Lesungen.
Für den Europa-Park entwickelt er Storywelten und arbeitete bisher u.a. als Autor an Voletarium und Madame Freudenreichs Curiosités. Darüberhinaus schrieb er die Drehbücher für die Animationsfilme Nachts im Park und Die Rettung des Märchenwaldes, sowie das Skript für das Musical Rulantica.
Dominik ist auch als Autor für Games tätig und entwickelte u.a. Konzept und Story für Ferocious, das 2025 von tinyBuild veröffentlicht wurde.
Als Dramaturgischer Berater wirkt er an Film-, Serien- und Romanentwicklungen mit und berät Firmen bei Marken- und IP-Entwicklungen. Er war u.a. Script Consultant der ZDF-Serie Club der Dinosaurier (2025), des Kinofilms Vielmachglas (2018) und des Kinderbuchs Rulantica. Zudem hält er Seminare zu den Themen Basics of Storytelling, Storywelten und Pixar’s Storytelling – auf Deutsch und Englisch.
Er ist Mitglied im DDV – Deutscher Drehbuchverband.

Dinosaurier feiern Weihnachten debuted at No. 9 on Germany’s picture-book bestseller list in November 2025. Since January 2026, the series adaptation Dino Mates has been broadcast on KiKA. He regularly holds interactive readings.
For Europa-Park, he develops story worlds and has worked as a writer on Voletarium, and Madame Freudenreich’s Curiosités, among others. His other writing credits include the animated films Nachts im Park and Die Rettung des Märchenwaldes, as well as the script for the musical Rulantica.
Dominik works as a game writer, creating concepts and stories for games like Ferocious that was published by tinyBuild in December 2025.
As a consultant, he contributes to the development of films, television series and novels, and advises companies on brand development and intellectual property. His credits include script consulting for the ZDF series Club der Dinosaurier (2025), the feature film Vielmachglas (2018) and the children’s book Rulantica. He also gives seminars on Basics of Storytelling, Story Worlds and Pixar’s Storytelling.
